MOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - The third annual Turkey Trot 5K Run and Walk was held in Mohawk on Saturday morning. The event is put on by the parent-teacher organization at Fisher Elementary School.

Besides the 5K run and walk, there was a quarter-mile, half-mile and one-mile trot for kids.

The event is designed not to raise money, but rather to bring the community of Mohawk together as a warm up to the holidays.

Mohawk-resident Vicky Coffin-Judd said, "Mohawk, we're a town of only about 2,400 people, and everybody knows everybody. It's days like this that you see everyone come out and support our kids."

There was also a petting zoo set up for kids.

The proceeds will help fund school field trips and put together some Thanksgiving meals for those people in Mohawk who need a little help.
